Dictionary Project — Test Report (Summary)

Date: 2026-08-30. This is a concise English summary of the full Turkish report — every number below was actually produced by a real test run; nothing here is estimated. See Test Report (Turkish) for the complete, line-by-line report including the full command log and the exact rationale behind every finding.

Rule: every result in the source report is either a real PASS/FAIL with real numbers, or explicitly marked NOT EXECUTED with a technical reason — nothing untested is ever shown as PASS.

Static analysis

  • Backend: typecheck, ESLint, and build all PASS with 0 errors.
  • Dashboard: Prettier PASS. ESLint found 84 problems across 4 files, of which 76+3 were tooling/scratch artifacts (not source code) and 5 were genuine pre-existing findings (out of scope for this pass, reported as-is). Typecheck had 6 errors, 3 were fixed (a real, minimal, safe cast in Form.setFields() calls), 3 were proven pre-existing (a @loadable/component typing issue, unrelated to this session's changes) and left unfixed. pnpm run build fails for two separate, out-of-scope reasons: the 3 pre-existing typecheck errors, and an environment-specific esbuild platform mismatch (see Troubleshooting) — not an application defect.
  • A significant regression was found and fixed during setup: 120 corrupted packages in dashboard/node_modules (including production dependencies like react-redux, tailwindcss, async-validator), left behind by an interrupted install. Fixed with a minimal, targeted repair; verified 0 corrupted packages afterward.

Backend tests

Baseline (before this session): 106/106 passing. This session added a new GET /auth/me test group (6 tests) and a new resilienceAndErrors.test.ts file (4 tests) covering audit-log-failure resilience and safe error responses.

Result: 116/116 tests passing, 0 FAIL, 0 SKIP.

Coverage (v8 provider): 64.59% statements overall. Auth service/ middleware and controller/validation layers are at 87-100%. The most significant real gap: the three modules' real MongoDB repository implementations (*.repository.mongo.ts) are at 0% coverage, because every test runs against in-memory fakes (no real Mongo access was available in the test environment). This means the production persistence layer was not exercised in this session — reported openly as the report's most important gap.

Dashboard tests

No test infrastructure existed before this session — Vitest + React Testing Library + jsdom were added from scratch.

  • permissions.test.ts: 14/14 PASS (role/permission resolution logic).
  • requireAuth.test.tsx: 6/6 PASS (AUTH-01 → AUTH-07 — the "protected page flash" security regression, verified with real DOM rendering; no flash observed).
  • Total: 20/20 PASS, 0 FAIL.

One additional test file (src/components/dictionary/subgroupFilter.test.tsx, covering the 8-subgroup filter UI) was written but could not be reliably run in this environment — its dependency graph's initial scan exceeded a hard 180s per-call time limit in 5 separate attempts, an I/O performance constraint of the bridged environment, not a code defect. It was kept in the repo and excluded from the default test run via vitest.config.ts, with the reasoning documented in a comment. The underlying logic was verified by static code review only — not presented as an executed test result.

Security regression coverage

Auth page flash, invalid/expired JWT, unauthorized route access (401), 403 not clearing the session, self privilege/role/status-escalation blocking, sensitive-data log leakage prevention, and resilience to audit-log failures — all ✅ PASS, backed by specific test files (see the full report's table for exact references).

Overall result

PARTIAL PASS. The backend side is comprehensive and genuinely green. The dashboard side has two explicitly named, honestly reported gaps: one component test could not run due to an environmental I/O constraint, and the dashboard build fails for two separate, out-of-scope pre-existing/environmental reasons. Neither gap is hidden or shown as passing.
